A couple of pics of my latest acquisition, the Oxford Rail Adams Radial. I've seen comments on certain forums that there is not much daylight visible under the boiler, as on the originals. There IS a small amount, perhaps not quite a true rendering of the original loco's, but the best that can be done and still manage to get an (extremely small) motor into the boiler itself. I'm not a "rivet counter" to that extent, and in pretty much every other respect, the model looks fine to me, and I'm aware that this loco in BR 'late' form was used only on one branch line, but as my layout is an entirely fictitious location on the Southern region, it'll do for me. Now, do I look at buying a "Terrier" or maybe not? Keith. Attached files
Can't seem to select more than one pic per post as I'm using an iMac, so here's the second pic. Keith. Attached files
nice looking model Keith re running rights remember rule 1 it's my model railway, then there's rule 2, see rule 1. Enjoy your new toy and the Terrier you know you want to. http://www.click
The Terrier will make the Radial look like the big dog You know you going to do it, so why prolong the misery, you'll just get indegestion - damn now I know I've around Toto too long Paul
Terriers and jinties they both look great on any layout. Little work horses and always overlooked in favour of their more butch and / or elegant stablemates. C'mon the underdogs. You know you want too. We'll await the news ...... And the photo's. Cheers Toto
Better purchase a M7 Class while you're at it... The Adams Radial does look good. A comparison between the Oxford offering and the Hornby offering will be good, once Hornby release theirs, that is. Any chance of a low profile baseboard height photo of the loco ?? Cheers, Gary.
Already got the M7 Gary, plus a 'push-pull' set to go with it! It's getting to the point where despite having around 300ft of usable track space, with 41 loco's + the DJ models class 73 on pre-order, I'm running out of space to run them, and I've a good few I'd like to add sound to in addition to the 6 I've already done. Every time the postie brings another loco, SWMBO rolls her eyes and asks "how many loco's do you actually need?" to which I reply "and how many pairs of shoes plus handbags do you need, dear?" Sort of levels the playing field a bit! At least I'm not buying them by the dozen like Toto........reckon he must be after discount for quantity! Keith.
Hi Keith, my loco purchasing has slowed down. I am thinking about sound now as well. maybe just 4 or 5 though. that will be one of my next projects. I heard a few of Legomanbiffos examples at the Scottish Rail exhibition. Must admit ..... pretty impressive. I'll let you know when I take the plunge. cheers Toto
Since Gary asked for a board level pic of the Adams radial, just taken a couple for him. Attached files
That's a nice looking Loco Keith I find with rivet counters, spilling a box of pins on the floor and asking them to pick em up and count to make sure there are 100 works well ( especially after removing one or two first ) On a side note re the Pictures, did you try uploading them to the Gallery first and then using the button to insert more than one Image ? try it and if its still giving probs send me a PM and I'll talk you through the process mate Oh and GO ON you know you want to buy it Cheers Matt
