I have only recently got back into railway modelling so don't have a huge amount to show. Here is one of my (very few). Its a Nigel Stanley (now PRMRP) 37/4. I must have built this at least 15 years ago. Must get some new couplings for it. Does it count as a Shelf Queen?... well it does live on a shelf....
I think it's a little too advanced ( and late ) to be considered a shelf queen. I like your style though. You have done a great job of it. A thing of beauty. Cheers Toto
How did you find the PRMRP or at least the fore runner model from Nigel Stanley built up ? I'm just curious to learn that's all. Lovely loco btw... the large logo with full yellow wrap round fronts look very attractive and possibly one of the best versions of the Corporate Blue livery I think.
Lovely loco, I've always had a soft spot for 37's, preferably an early version in Green or simple Corporate Blue - I know I'm a sad ******* Paul
Nah... wouldn't call that sad Dundee... a whole fleet of them kept in boxes stashed away in the attic is sad.
Thanks for the comments. These kits are quite basic but buildable. Definitly not something for a 1st time builder. The roof and body sides tend to be formed from a single etched sheet with seperate cab fronts and bonnett tops. They come pre formed and I am not totally convinced by the body profile. It looks ok unless you look head on. Its slightly narrow and tall. If i where to make one again I would request for the body to be left as a flat piece and make my own internal bulkheads to the correct body radius, bending the body round them. Its the usuall thing of price versus quality. A just like the real thing kits will be far easier to build but you can have a complete loco with wheel, motors etc for less if you go for a PRMRP kit. They also do several locos that no body else produces. The kits where originally designed by David Parkin of Flightpath and Modern Motive power fame. From what i can gather he designed them as scratch aids and they where never intended to be sold as full kits. The price he sold them for reflected this. The subsequent owners (i know of at least 3) have sold them as full kits with a price to match.[/QUOTE]
Lovely model Paul. I have a soft spot for the 37's but like Paul_L I would have mine in BR green too......... Cheers, Pete.
i do like green despite being too young to have seen one in that livery outside of preservation. I always had a soft spot for the Scotty dog and when this loco was allocated to Immingham (far away from Scotland) it was a regular sight for me as a teenager
