Nice job on the shed Ron. Now, to finish that paving, although one job at a time !! You know if you add some 'stone' colour to the trim, it could wouldn't look out of place on Linden Ford ! Cheers, Gary.
Ha ha, it will have a Cream trim Gary!! The path has been put on hold due to finishing the drive at the front of the house.. (so SWMBO's said!) Cheers Ron
Today I have been mostly tunnel mouth building!! A Metcalfe kit + extra stonework.... It was an awkward spot and to help matters there was a surface mounted point motor as well!Very pleased with result and working out the surrounding scenics now.
Nice job you've made of that Ron. I'll look forward to a couple of shots of it on the layout in position when the time comes. toto
Quite a busy day today, all morning washing and Spring cleaning the caravan.. Then to build my wall to separate the tracks in the fiddle yard, I started it last night and had to think outside the box on how to fit and make it how I wanted! First job was to move 2 of the fiddle yard tracks about 30mm towards the edge to make enough room for the wall. Then to re-paint the board and trial fit the wall. Just got to finish the wall off when some of the glued parts are set and then start on some scenics for the area. here's a view with the new tunnel mouth as well.. Not sure what to put in this space , any suggestions??? Cheers Ron
Sometimes less is more Ron so maybe you don't need to fill it with anything to heavy. Maybe a few more shots from further away for a better idea of how it fits in to the whole layout if possible. It's fairly coming along again though. Cheers for now Toto
G`day Ron, Those retaining walls and tunnel are impressive... As for the area, what about a single platform on the baseboard edge, with a connecting bridge up to the top of the retaining wall. If you put points in the two tracks you could have a run around.???? http://www.clickGormo
Yes Tom, a Metcalfe kit and the tunnel mouth. Good idea about the platform Gormo but not really room for a run around. I'll use the DMU and a push-pull unit. Got me thinking about a foot bridge though!! Thanks Ron
Well a bit more, built a platform (Metcalfe odds & sods!) also checked so see if an old footbridge could used (it can!).. I'm wondering about using the Norfolk style of wall goes with the stone archways???Any comments ?? CheersRon
My personal opinion is that they don't match, but then again, the railway would have built the platform wall. Do you require a wall along that edge of the layout ? You could always just have the platform and no wall... The platform would stop stock from falling off ! Scalescenes printed papers : http://scalescenes.com/scratchbuilders-yard/ I think the TX49 Dressed stone would look great as a wall or even TX50, Limewashed stone... Cheers, Gary.
