Ordered not one of these a few weeks ago

    Aliexpress - Logic analyser link

    And its arrived,

To anyone who tinkers with digital electronics and micro-computers, a logic analyzer is a great tool to have.
Unfortunately they used to be quite expensive. Nowadays … no more. This tiny, 8 channel, 24MHz sample rate, USB module (complete with usb cable and jumpers) for approx £6 - I got mine for approx £4 when I ordered it so check for other vendors.

Combine this with the free open source ‘sigrok / pulseview' software it provides a very capable and fun to use logic analyzer at a relatively cheap price.

Downloads are available for many platforms: https://sigrok.org/wiki/Downloads
The video shows how to get this duo to work as well as some of the features of the software.

I have a logic probe (Maplin) already, but not sure if I really need an analyser. S'pose it could be useful, and It's certainly cheap enough. It's surprising the amount of really cheap electronics gear there is on the "Aliexpress" website, lots of stuff you never knew you needed!:giggle:

It really comes in to its own when you start to analyse data being sent, for example if you are sending a DCC command to an accessory but it isn't responding, you can attach the logic analyser and listen in to the bus in various locations, and compare the results. The pulseview software can display the messages being sent.

    Or

you could connect it to the arduino inputs and outputs and monitor the output of your sketches logic

Now just got to find time to play ........
