Took a trip over to Sheffield this morning to pick up my pre-ordered LNER Dynamometer car, the 'version 2', as used on the 1948 locomotive trials, and also by Bulleid for testing of his "Leader" experimental locomotive, the main reason for my shelling out £125 for this coach. I also took the opportunity to have a look at Rails rather impressive new showroom.....talk about a kid in a sweetie shop! Anyway, here's what comes over the counter.
This is the closest coach coupling I have ever seen and they say they will work down to second radius.
I’ve recently bought my father 2 of the new Hornby 6 wheel generic coaches in LNER teak livery. These come with the added lighting inside.

externally they look the part with some great detail and add on foot boards to complete. I have to say, I’m quite impressed and personally fancy some of the LNWR ones or LMS red ones to run as something North Staffs area.
Any suggestions for any more appropriate locos RTR are welcome.

Hi all,

In the absence of any actual modelling recently, I decided to treat myself to one of these models, just re-released via Hornby magazine.

Why? No real reason other than I fancied one!

It comes in a rather attractive and stylish box:

View attachment 8826

With the model itself trapped in a two part plastic case inside:

View attachment 8827

I've read lots of comments elsewhere about this model, especially first time around but it looks good to me:...

I receive the newsletter from Ellis Clark ( one of our forum sponsors) and on his latest which is a mini special version, Ellis advises of changes to his website.

The changes are the addition of various navigation tools which help to break down product categories a bit further and assist the viewer to get to where they want a bit more quickly and efficiently. Ellis is aware that there have been a couple of blips in the smooth working of these latest changes and has encouraged his newsletter...

I'd had this loco on 'pre-order' since they were announced last October by Hattons, and in terms of how long these 'specially commissioned' loco's often take to come to the market, a 6 month wait is very little, but the wait has been worth it, and at a relatively cheap £99 (in the UK), great value too!
(Hornby/Bachmann, are you listening???). Detail-wise, it's an excellent and well made little loco, although when you look at the pics, even the small tension lock couplings seem way oversize...
