Now finally just so folks don't think my layout is completely devoid of good trackside husbandry here is the wooden PW hut in which the Ettiley Heath gang store some of the kit, the ballast edge is neatly trimmed and the cess is clear of weed... just a few stragglers popping up at the base of the hut. Again this hut is made from C&L sleepers, I tink around 50 were used on a Plasticard frame and the roof slates are thin cut card dry brushed with various greys and bluish hues.

That is a bit of a help York Paul. I have two through lines and a siding to the bottom of them. The siding could be fine scale singers which I am sure I have and the two running lines grey ballast. The grey ballast could be dirtied down a bit to take away the new look. I then run off on the other side of the two main through lines with another line which is a dedicated goods line. Again maybe singers / a bit coal and other mucky deposits.

I'll post up a picture or two on Luib Bridge to give a better idea as when you move away from the tunnel end towards the goods shed on baseboard two, parts of the goods line will be laid to cobbles.

You'll understand better with a couple of photo's to help.

I have a few two colour ground signals I was going to try and work in as well but until you know the Fuller layout , it would be difficult to understand what their intention is and hence the best place to position them

Cheers for the photo's and apologies for sending folks to sleep on your thread.

    Cheers

Nearly forgot ...... I like the examples of the trackside clutter. Could easily be used to great effect.

    Cheers

Yes please Toto post pictures up, the ground signal on my layout is of the old style black and yellow warning type which shows a yellow on aspect and a green when clear. These discs were used in instances where an engine could pass the disc in the on position as the points were set normal, this saved a signalman having to constantly pull a lever. The later type warning discs were white with a yellow central band edge with a thin black outline, normal on off discs were white and red showing a red on aspect.

Here is the inside of the hut with coal bunker and locker box, the nano led is switched on to help lighting.

And here is another nocturnal picture of the hut this time with its roof on again and showing the brick chimney, note how the batter slope has been dug away to accomodate this cabin.

I'm not sure you send folks to sleep on my thread Toto I think I do a good job there myself... :avatar: in fact its probably a better tonic for sleeping sickness than going to the doctors for a prescription. :avatar: I just toned the ballast down by sprinkling a fine covering of ash rather than a spray paint. Not forgetting that I'm not capturing a main line with brake dust / oil spillage on the tracks, my layout is very rural and lightly used traffic flows so its a totally different beast from Steve Fay's magnificent Dawlish mainline scene. All these different aspects need to be considered when tailor making the scene needed.

Excellent Paul. Plenty of character and sitting back in the batter with the scenery around just finishes it off.

The photo's will be tomorrow. I'll take some when I'm back in the shed as I'll need to clear a lot of stuff of the layout.

    Teriffic

Lovely layout in progress here, with some very eye-catching scenery. Regrettably I never got round to trying 7mm - I got as far as buying a single private owner coal wagon many years ago, it's still in the box!

Thanks for the kind comments Clive, Elton Crossing was my first return to layout building for over 25 years, my first loco build was an F5. I bought the kit from Big Jim because I liked the look of the "Victorianess" this little GER radial tank offered, so this engine is the exception because everything I do now has a direct link to me whether by sighting it (as with the steamers) or footplating it as with my Sulzer build(s)... shhh don't tell SWMBO :avatar:. Hopefully I'll get round to building a new portable layout in sections, this will be based on the Leek arm of the NSR Churnet Line and host my current project the Mirfield Parcels train. This is why I'm doing D5018 and 75030 as colour photos show both engines shunting the van train in Leek Yard ready to depart with the 3N01 Leek Mirfield working this will form part of the new layout, a bit like bringing old photographs to life really. That is why I'm so pedantic about the details.

    cheers York Paul

PST... you didn’t mention the signal box :avatar:

Btw, I don’t live in Trowell, that was Rich King who owned the 04. I live near Mansfield.

On I didn't at the time sorry but since you are here now Andy yes folks the signal box and level crossing gates are Andy's creations from Northern Bridge 3D Models, the round 1/2 milepost is also by NB3D Models, he has also made other stuff like the crossing gate lamps and a nice Victorian lavatory pan and cistern which I have yet to install as a feature of the outside closet for the crossing house. Sorry about getting you location mixed up but it was all part of a plan to protect your privacy :avatar::avatar::avatar:
