I received a heads up from Hatton's today to say that their Dapol class 08 in BR black livery was in stock and ready to ship. ....... 1 on its way. Will post up photos when it arrives. Cheers Toto
Phew - that's a relief, a green one and I may have been nervous, but maybe more tempted with an 0-6-0T industrial loco kit tho' . Paul
From what I,ve seen on f/b and youtube, they look great, they are well detailed but with scope for super detailing if the fancy takes you, maybe next year once the rest of the liveries come out. Pete.
Just received my second in plain BR green with early emblem this time. I'll post a picture or two later. The top portion of the bonnet lifts off to reveal the PCB so fitting the 21 pin chip is a real doddle. Good one Dapol.
2 Lenz silver 21 pin direct plug decoders duly ordered from wickness models. I have used them before can't quite remember what the service is like but I'll keep you posted and shall carry out the 30 second installation procedure on their arrival. Cheers Toto
Just received this loco back from weathering by Arry of this parish. He took delivery of it from me at the Elgin show and we were reunited on me getting home today. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow if I get the chance. He's done a great job of it. Cheers Arry
Talk about dangling a carrot. If anything were to get me to seriously model in O, this loco could well be it! (-:
You guys keep tempting me but it wont work! I also have a soft spot for Class 08, but for me to have a plank, it would need sound....... and smoke........and a stay alive.....and some wagons........ Nope, Dapols very enticing entry price just went past a Grand, by all means keep dangling the carrots, but I will resist! My will is strong....... I have cast iron resolve...... I am unyielding...... I am weakening......... EEEEK!
Stay resolute Mr Timbersurf Resist the slippery road to those temptations and an ever emptying bank account.
I feel itbmay happen to a lot of us! I’m interested to compare the cab with the real thing, see what’s missing and maybe do some super detailing. That said, I feel the same about it would need sound and maybe smoke and lights... How long till we get miniature moving people?
Yes they did, tunnel inspection train, a weedkiller and once I saw one go Light engine to BIS on hire when the works shunting engines were out of action... that was in the early days of the 70's when BIS had that 4 wheeler Fowler mechanical thing. Oh and I seem to remember an 08 going down with the Stoke PW tool van mess coach one Sunday to dig the sidings out at Moneystone.
So let me think...... If you wont buy, then you could rent..... Not very practicable for a layout. So you could run stuff on your local model Railway club's layout........ Hmmm.... I would have to join one...... oooh! I am already a member of Platform 1 MRC! Woohoo! I'll be round this evening for a little play with yours guys!
