Hello all Little Weldon as you've never seen it before. Yesterday was Little Weldon's annual Spring Clean. Firstly all the Locos and Stock was removed followed by any accessories not glued down. Remaining items such as the TPO apparatus and buildings were then brush cleaned. The trackwork was then thoroughly cleaned, after the whole layout was Hoovered with several layers of Stocking over the nozzle. The removed accessories were then Brush cleaned and returned to the layout some of which have now changed their positions. Finally all Locos and Stock were cleaned and oiled before being returned to the rails. The whole clean from start to finish ended up taking 6 hours but I have now got a sparkling clean layout.
Slightly reminiscent of Codnor Castle here in Derbyshire, though you have more of yours remaining than Codnor has! Keith.
Hello all This weekend saw the first trains running on Little Weldon since last October. After the previous weekends spring clean the layout ran faultlessly. It was great to watch the trains run by, the new scenic section has added a totally new dimension. The layout seems more spacious now there is a distance to the Girder Bridge. Over the last few weeks I have bought several sets of Master Model figures in cast Mazak that need repainting these are currently soaking in a bath of Dettol to remove any remaining paint.
Hello all Weldon Council in conjunction with British Railways are about to embark upon an advertising campaign. Here is a sneak preview of the first batch of posters.
The third pic is nicely atmospheric. It's good to see you've been careful to not have EVERY window of EVERY building shedding light as is sometimes seen on layouts.
Hello all This week I have been off work, I am still using last year's holiday allowance rather than losing it. I have started the last four days with a running session. As the layout is running really well at the moment these have been great fun. This was one of my aim's three years ago when I started construction. You can't fault the design team at Meccano Ltd for producing such a reliable product. I have some locomotives and stock which date back to 1948, several pieces of trackwork and buildings which pre-date WWII. All of this can't be bad for a range of models which were primarily sold as " Toy's". Whilst being off work I have also added to the range of promotional material encouraging you all to visit the Weldons.
Hello This weekend's Car Boot find a circuit of Hornby Dublo Clockwork track circa 1938 / 1939. Both Clockwork and Electric models were available from the start. When Meccano Ltd turned to War work during 1939 toy production ceased. When they re- introduced Dublo during 1948 none of the Clockwork range was bought back.
Hello I haven't been modelling lately, but I have spent the odd hour or so here and there running Little Weldon. I have been experimenting with lighting and Camera angles.
Hello I 've managed to get four of the vintage Trix Yard lights set up and working in the Goods Yard.
Wow...this is something out of my Uncles store room...he would light up over seeing something like this if he were still with us...I remember finding a clockwork hornby set under the house that he and my mother would play with as kids. Such a credit to history right here. Cheers for sharing and preserving.
Hello I haven't been doing any modelling lately, but I have had several running sessions. I have also been playing about with alternative photo angles and lighting. There is some big news regarding Little Weldon coming in a few weeks.
Hello Sadly I must announce that the big event regarding Little Weldon failed to occur, so no big news I'm afraid. Still not much happening on the modelling side but I did manage to pick up this rather nice Wardie Master Models Tobacconist Kiosk. A bit more difficult to find with its card insert.
Hello Little Weldons big news event has occurred. Being the subject of an article in Januarys Railway Modeller.
