Need to get this one done in time for Elgin, as Toto has a total absence of Brake Vans. There's lots of bits to this kit - plastic mouldings and the extras That transfer sheet will be handy, and the bag of brass castings is impressive. Suppose I'd better read the instructions - to see how it's supposed to go together Paul
The instructions are a double side A3 sheet, and a nice touch, a colour picture of the castings in the bag with the names of the items. According to the instructions this kit can produce three versions Dia D1919 introduced in 1935 and 670 were built Dia D2036 introduced 1940/41 and 522 were built Dia D2068 introduced 1949/50 and approx 1320 were built. Decisions decisions ......... more reading required Paul
Hi Paul, I haven't built as many Slaters kits as I have from the Parkside range bit what I have built have been excellent to work on. By remarkable coincidence I started on brake van kit last weekend too, a Parkside Southern Pill Box type. It will be hitting the small ads when finished because it doesn't fit with the rest of my modelling.
Don't think one will appear on Toto's build list for a good while, the latter version has 4 brake shoes per wheel, he baulked at 2 per side Not had chance to progress any further as his lordship has me on other tasks Paul
Hey ...... You've got a night off tonight. ...... Geeeezz, some folks want it all. ..... Just remember and report back in for duty on Saturday .
The Slaters LMS van is a nice kit And yes the later version has a full complement of brake gear 2 sets of shoes per wheel. I remember it being a bit of a puzzle to build the etch brass brake rigging as my kit was a bargin buy from the bay with everything but the instructions .
Hi Paul, I was thinking that I had built the Parkside equivalent but having compared the two mine looks to be an earlier diagram than yours.
I have one of these parkside versions ......... safe in storage. You have done a great job of that Rob. cheers toto
