This will be my very first layout that im doing as a shelf layout im looking at a L shape with 6 foot down the main board and 3 foot down the short side and being N scale i can fit a lot in a 2 foot wide space without the need of tight curves even though i have 4 wheel passenger and freight and im lucky to have laid my hands on from ngs 2nd hand a stove and inspection which is some what longer than what the rest of my stock is.Im doing DC as my loco stock is going to be class 03 or 04 i hope to get an 08 and the 14 that i already own with my freight and passenger a mix of brittish and from europe as to buy australian i can have 2 class 04 or even 08 for the price of a 48 class branch line and as for rolling stock i can get about 6 to 10 bits for a pack of freight wagons. Now to start my planing so i can draw my idea beside the pc programs is there anywhere i can download track peices like the model rail mag just had as i have tried looking on peco site but i dont think i was looking in the right area or is there any kits that i can buy that is either code 55 or 80 that i can do my 1:1 scale drawing on paper as i have an idea in my head that i wish to get down on paper and see if it works or not.Andrew

During the week while at work i printed off the track templetes for code 80 peco and shelled out 6 bucks for some thick heavy duty carboard to glue the papers onto as well as the bits that came free from model railso next week im hoping to make a start with glue and trying to see if my plan will work.
I was also lucky enough to score with the help of another n scale modller a stove r from ngs and costing a packet from evil bay a insepction passenger coach to add to my rolling stock fleet

    Hi Andrew

The free version of Anyrail, supports upto 50 pieces of track, so you can test it out to see if it will do what you want - it also allows you to put in buildings etc.

    Hi Andrew,

Great stuff, looking forward to seeing your track plan come Alive. As Paul said, Anyrail is a good starting place for track plans. A few folks on here use it including myself.

    Cheers for now

    Toto

Well xmas time will be fun as i wont have my son till xmas night and i have been really naughty with wrapping presents for my new lady friend who has been looking on evil bay for items for the layout and i have been turning her small presents into something massive by using a few boxes inside each other like a russian nesting doll
