A warm to cmcan, glad you decided to join us, settle in and please take the time to introduce yourself to the forum, and tell us a bit about your interests. Paul
Hi, aboard the mad house. thanks for joining our Forum. Get settled in, pull on a pair of slippers and come back with a bit about yourself. Friendly bunch on here always looking to see who's doing what. cheers toto
Thanks everyone. I have decided to return to the hobby in the last 12 months after a 30 year break. Have things changed!!!! I am building a simple 3 point shunting layout. It will be freelance to start with although the rollingstock will lean toward NSWGR. The aim is to slowly develop my modellings skills Reading articles by Ian Futers and Lance Mindheim convinced me a simple layout would be the place to start and was achievable. Seeing the layouts at the epping mrc 2016 exhibition today provided lots food for thought. Gary and Chris' layouts were excellent and Gary was very helpful ( i didnt get chance to talk to chris) Cheers Cameron
Cameron, I`m glad you enjoyed the exhibition. The boys were fairly busy while I was there so I`m not surprised you couldn`t get to talk to Chris. Not to worry mate......have a chat to him on the forum here. We are a friendly lot here and very accepting of people of all abilities and skill levels. The unwritten law here is that we are here to share knowledge and help each other in our modelling endeavours if we can. If you have any questions.....just fire away.....there will be somebody here who knows something. When you are ready, show us what you`re building and also join in with the banter. Some of the guys on here are a bit nuts but they`re harmless.......if you want a list of all the nutty ones I`ll post it up for you.......no probs.......fortunately, I am one of the normal, quiet, educated, handsome, modest members, so you can rely on me....... Enjoy your ride with us Cameron http://www.clickGormo
Hi Cameron, a great start. we'll look forward to your plans developing as you go. If there are any queries etc ...... bang them up. we are all happy to get involved. first class. cheers toto
Toto wrote: Try stopping us getting involved is more to the point There are quite a few of us here took a few decades hiatus, and like yourself found the world of model railways had changed beyond recognition. But then that just adds to the fun - so I'm told Paul

Good to see you have found inspiration From Ian Futers and Lance, inspirational modellers I have Ian's books and find them some of the best inspiration for modelling in a small space. Whilst your looking trough the site have a look at the competitions you may even want to join in. Plank Layout may be just up your alley. Sorry that I missed you at the show between answering questions running the layout and platform1 I got to talk to so many people with varing modelling interests it's amazing, I had a look around the show at the rest of the quality modelling at 1/4 to 5 tonight. Once your settled in Cameron start a post In the members layout section and we can follow your build even if your only at the planning stage, there's a good brains trust here to draw on. 3 points is 1 more than my Moonan Flats the inglenook style layouts can keep you going for hours shunting etc. Where all about having fun with model railways BTW we love photos save on words Ask any questions you have there will be someone who knows the answer and if not we'll usualy be able to nut it out or make it up as we go Any how welcome back to the Hobby and an even bigger welcome to Platform1MRC.

Ian, Do i like goats? Well there is always room for God's creatures........next to the chips and gravy. Cameron
G'day Cameron, Not sure if we talked over the weekend, maybe we did, but as Chris said, we talked with quite a few modellers at the exhibition. I'm happy that you found the place to be as there is a wealth of info available to you. If the question hasn't been posted yet, ask regardless. There is no such thing as a stupid question ! Enjoy the forum and after you have had a good look around, introduce your self. Cheers, Gary. ps. Goat = delicious...!
Hi Gary, we did talk, it was on Saturday morning. How did the layout perform for the rest of the weekend? We were talking about DCC and the influence of the environment on operations. Thanks for your generosity in discussing the layout not only with myself but others who were there. Cameron
