The Nigel Gresley A4 pacifics are my absolute favourite locos and in particular 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley'. Here are a few photos I took on the North Yorks Moors Railway before the engine went in for its overhaul.....
This is a photo of Sir Nigel Gresley in LNER Garter Blue colours back in the late 80s, hauling the Shakespeare special at Banbury Station. We used to live nearby and my Dad would take my Sister, Brother and I down to watch the steam specials. In the photo is a 9 year old version of me with my Sister and late Grandfather. The driver let me go up onto the footplate, possibly the reason why it has become my favourite locomotive of all time...... Great memories.
and here is the 00 gauge version, pride of place on my layout. This is the Bachmann version, a lovely model I picked up from eBay a few years back. Andrew.
My Sir Nigel Gresley goes back a bit further than the other one mentioned in this thread. It's a three rail Hornby Dublo one that would be around 65 years young:
This was the locomotive in my first 'train set' and that would have been around 65 years ago. Certainly brings back memories! Keith.
