I'm going to build another layout next year, it will be home based and set in the welsh valleys. I've wanted to do something with a welsh theme for a long time as it's my home and I want some local based locos.
Here's the rough plan, it will be 13 foot long fed by a sector plate. The station will be loosely based on Bodmin general. A single platform with run round loop and goods facilities, also a single road engine shed.

2 or 3 coach passenger trains using B sets or corridor stock hauled by panniers (2 on order from Minerva ) prairies & GW mogul from Heljan along with 117, 120 & 121 DMU's
Auto trains using lion heart 64 pannier and I have an auto coach being built at the moment. I would like a MOK 14xx as well.
Plenty of goods action as well as we will assume its a junction giving work for my new 42 tank.
Hymeks and 68ers (37's) will form the Diesel options.
Some stock from Ranelagh Bridge can be used also. This allows me to run trains where as RB is mainly light engine movements
Stock will be a mix of kits and RTR. Most will be local engines from Pontypool road Newport or Abergavenny.

Nice plan there Steve, "O" to have a few extra feet of space if I'd had that for Moonan Flats (8ft scenic) could have squeezed in a loco facility like you have and using the sector plate is a great way to save on space of the lead points, but also gives the option of extending later with a scenic section for the station lead  looking forward to the build as you always present inspiring work.:tophat:

Nice project Steve, will the canal cross the rails on a viaduct or under a bridge?

It will cross over the railway. I thought I would go for something a little different to a road bridge

Excellent idea, not something you see normally, do you have an existing one in mind as an inspiration?

    Pete.

Nothing set in stone yet, I will try and take inspiration from the my local area. One thing I will do is have a brewery advertisement on the canal bridge steel work. This was regular on bridges usually road over the railway close to stations.
I think I will opt for Rhymney beers! Best round here!
Here's an Intentio plate layers hut that will be used on this project.

Won't be as quick as Severn tunnel, I will start by building some of the laser cut kits I need first. The railway room needs expanding to get it in and that's a summer job!!
