Thanks lads, yes it is starting to look like a proper loco now, but I aint resting on my laurels just yet, its the detail now, lots of little bits, pipework, gauges ( do,es anyone know a supplier of miniature gauges? ), control levers etc.

    Cheers, Pete.

Hooray, I,ve saved the buffers, I soaked the twisty pair in acetone a few hours and they fell off , just need to clean up and re-fit them.

    Cheers, Pete.

I have decided to swop the buffers for some of the correct pattern from NMRS models, they are only £9.00 delivered and use the old ones on the Lima shunter, when I bought them the decider was the large buffer heads, they are for a DMU really, so being for a diesel they are more appropriate.

    Cheers, Pete.

Blimey I hadn,t realised how long it was since my last update on the Barclay! so I had better post up what I,ve been up to. One of the things I,ve been doing from the start is building it so it can be dismantled to its component parts for painting, but I was struggling to work out how to fix the saddle tank, then I had an idea that worked, I,ve soldered a nut to the top of the boiler, drilled through the tank where the water filler is, and made a loose fitting lid, once painted I use bluetac or similar to hold it in place, just got to try not to lose it in the meantime.

I have made and fitted the ejector pipes, a bit of a compromise there as if they went all the way to the cab I wouldn,t have been able to dismantle the cab and boiler from the footplate, same withe the reversing bar, then once they were on I found a photo that shows the cab front has a huge hole in it for these pipes and bar, so I would have been able to work round it for disassembling,
The plasticard sand boxes are fitted and the new buffers glued on.

I am not happy with the regulator handle it is way to long, so I will remove it and shorten it.

You can see on the real thing its a short handle so its got to be changed.

Just noticed it is upside down on mine, Still its an easy fix.

    Later, dudes, Pete.

It may take a while, as I first have to complete several years of compliance testing for each loco, then I think I'm walking them down - a fully personel service :avatar:
