Hi all this will be my first piece of railway modelling as I am recovering from corvid19. I purchased an Andrew Barclay locomotive from Hattons. NCB No.6 will be hauling a rake of coal hoppers. This will create a simple but realistic colliery diorama that would have been prototypical across the UK in the 60s & 70s.
More to follow once my base arrives..

Evening! I have made a start on my latest diorama of Andrew Barclay. A longer oak plinth was ordered and has arrived.
A strip of wood under the track was then fitted to replicate a raised railway bed. The track has been glued in place which needs to be weighted down and left to dry.
More to follow but for now a picture of my progress.

Managed to finish weathering the track and laying the ballast. Going to let the ballast dry for the rest of the day now.
I thought why not put a mucky pool of water into the scene. I don’t use the water that you mix and pore, I cheat by painting the pool bed and then put some shaped clear plastic over. This later can be weathered to get the desired look.
Here is a picture of my progress..

Morning I have added a derelict lineside building to my Andrew Barclay diorama. Today I will be concentrating on modelling that area of my diorama by painting and weathering up the building. Some wood flooring and rubble will be added at some point today.
For now a few pictures of my progress..

There is nothing quite like a derelict building on a diorama I think... I have just had an inspiration thanks Mark. The scene develops...:tophat:

Very good. Just a little bit of something that helps suggest something much bigger. A good use for a small diorama.

    Very good

Modelling of the derelict lineside building is going nicely. The main brick colour has been added and a light grey wash was added to replicate the mortar. You will see I have added some fallen debris from the building with some brick and joists. All this will be weathered and foliage added to get the desired affect.
    For now a few pictures..

Hi I have managed to progress a little further on my diorama. The bulk of the grass work has been completed and some wild flowers have started to grow.
The murky pool looks a lot better with the foliage. I thought this diorama was in need of a little post box.
There is still some weathering and vines to add to my diorama, but for now a few pictures of my progress..
