Hi all, As a new member, I thought I would share my journey towards a new shlef layout in HO. My space is limited so I've decided that a shelf style layout will be best for me. I cut up a bunch of used wood and made a frame 8' x 2' shown below: This basic open frame is pretty stable and I also put some levelling feet on the up rights. Next I sized some plywood to create a bench top. I am going to use building foam as the base for the layout and hope to put up a photo or two of the next phase in a week or so. Hi Greame, A good start. Looks solid enough from here. You would have been better sticking this in members personal layouts section but no worries. We should be able to move it for you that way it will be easier for other members to find. You carry on right here and leave the rest to us. No worries, It takes a bit of getting used to and finding your way around. There is always usually a fix somewhere. Great to see a new layout sprouting up.
