I am probably showing my ignorance here, but...

I am building a small O gauge shunting layout with the classic inglenook track plan. It will have two Peco SL-E791FB Code 143 turnouts and some code 143 flexitrack.

However, I cannot connect the flexitrack to the turnout as the sleepers get in the way. I am assuming I will have to chop off bits of the sleepers on the track and turnout, or is there an alternative that I am missing? I never had this problem with OO setrack.

You need to shorten the sleepers that are catching on both rails..

It is normal practice to trim sleepers to fit. That goes for O OO N etc.

OO set track has abnormally sharp radia so is usually OK. If you used OO Streamline you would have had the same problem.

Yes it's the regular thing to do. Do one track at a time.

If you adjust the sleeper spacing a little, you could interlace them, otherwise you could weaken the chairs too much,
which might lead to gauge issues

Adjusting the spacing sounds like a good plan, but I think the solution might be a combination of adjusting and cutting.

I might remember to take some pictures of our club layout, when I go down to carry on with the refurb project, tomorrow afternoon.

As an aside, I feel I should mention that I bought these Peco turnouts from Ellis Clark Trains. I did a search online and was pleasantly surprised that their prices were quite a bit lower than 'the usual suspects'.

Nothing wrong with cutting the sleepers off the flex track and slightly off the points. Ballast will soon hide the cuts.

Even interlacing the sleepers you will need to trim the ends somewhere...

    Cheers, Gary.
