You may have noted a lack of posts from me recently? I have had a serious loss of mojo and although I have picked up the Princess build I am still struggling with enthusiasm. I mentioned on another thread some time ago, that in my kit stash I have a Hobby Holidays etched brass WWI Mark IV tank kit. Although I haven't started it, I have gathered quite a bit of information which will allow me to semi scratch build a Mark I Gun Carrier This image from Wikipedia used purely for illustrative purposes gives and idea of what it looks like. They came in two guises, with a 5" field cannon as shown above or a 6" Howitzer. Which is the version that I plan to build although I may make a 5" field gun to go with it at some point. The idea being that I plan to use it along side my Mark IV tank as a wagon load. I may make a couple of additional Howitzers as stand alone field pieces as further wagon loads to make up a military train. we will have to see. What I have yet to decide is how I plan to make it. I will certainly be doing some parts as 3D prints but I am undecided as to whether to draw up the gun carriages/sled in 3D or draw it in 2D and use my silhouette cutter for those parts and the make elements of the tank itself. I have managed to lay my hands on some plans for building one in card which will translate nicely into what ever format I settle on (they are 1:48 scale so will need resizing to 1:43). Over the last few evenings I have made a small start by drawing up the wheels for the howitzer and some stowage items in the form of a 2 gallon POW (Petrol, Oil,Water) can. As a complete aside, I also bought a 1:35 scale Tamiya Panther tank kit (this was before I realised that I was really more interested in First World War and just after Armour than the WWII stuff. I have made a start on building it and might make a little diorama for it but again as stowage and for the challenge I drew up a Jerry can in 1:35 and 1:43 albeit it's a bit modern for the WWI interest bubble. Before anyone mentions it, I did simplify the filler cap somewhat as I didn't think that the complex locking mechanism would have a snowball in hell's chance of printing successfully so I didn't go there.
