    Plenty to think about there!
Remember to coat (paint or spray) the abutments with clear, matt varnish or paint. This will protect the paper/card from getting wet or discoloured..
    Cheers

Its coming along a treat Phil, you've caught the essence of the prototype well .
Have you stuck down the bridge yet, or can you still lift it off? if you can lift it try wrapping cling film/Saran wrap around the bases. Do the scenics, I would use a Polyfilla type filler smoothed over the foam base mixed a little sloppy ( it go's off quickly! ) smoothed with a wet brush. You could still use the clingfilm just wrap it as close to the polystyrene without it touching. Then when you are happy with the finish, just remove the cling film, it shouldn't stick to the filler. I used the same method on my old layout, Lockoford yard for the removable factory building at the rear, it had a peco point motor inside.
Alternately, you could mix the filler to a thick paint consistency and carefully brush it on.
Whichever method you go with I'd recommend mixing the filler with some dark colour so that should it get chipped, the white won't show. I've used black poster paint on my bridge ground cover, it has come out light grey, I will paint over that with some green so when I put the static grass on it will give better cover.

    Hope this is helpful mate.

    Cheer's, Pete.

Phil following on from Pete's suggestion I use Spectrum Noir alcohol based pens, the Warm grey and cold grey work really well.
The colours are blendable, and are double ended with a fine and thick tip. If you hold the pen in contact with the paper it will leech in to the paper and cause a staining effect.

    Nice build keep it coming

A little more work done on my bridge. Static grass on, still some more layers to put on but I haven't taken the photos yet.

I've taken some more photos of my entry. I have given the embankment some more autumn static grass, glued some foliage net and bushes from rubberised horse hair and some net stuff... sprinkled with ground foam.

Also fixed down the track after painting it matt black, then dry brushed with white acrylic to give a weather worn look. Then ballasted using my Seel floor polish method.

See what you think. (Still a little more to do before its finished)

Just realised my entry for the bridge comp seems to have ended up on Phils thread, I've looked but can't seem to find my own thread?

Apologies mate. When I clicked on last reply, it took me to your thread. Any way, I now go straight to any thread I've started by using the search method. Much simpler.

Hi Phil, I have just noticed when clicking on the forums section and scrolling down to latest posts, your thread has my avatar and user name on it, could be why there was a mix up? Could one of the web gurus look into it?

    Pete.
