I am aware that the Mashima 1833 motor is the motor of choice for this model. I have the gearbox etc but cant seem to be able to buy a motor by itself. can anyone suggest an alternative that will suit. I'm sure the gearbox is a 40/1 ratio.
    cheers

    Cheers,

What does a flywheel do when added to a motor and is it really beneficial to have ?

The fly wheels are used to smooth out the motor pulses plus give the motor some additional rotating mass as it says fly wheel in some cases on DC control can help if there is a dead spot and looses power

Some say with DCC not nessasary but I have 2 locos that are basically the same one with one without F/W and the one with the flywheel is a little smoother running
