I'm currently on a wagon building mission to build some varied types of running stock to make up a flexible maintainence train. One of the units that i would like to include is a Departmental accomodation unit which will be made out of a coach of some sort. ( as suggested by York Paul ). I have 4 of the Connoiseur range as below and could also look at getting the 2 compartment brake third coach from the same range it that would be better. here are the versions in stock, all opinions welcome. this build has shot up the build list and may be next after my single bolster build which is just about to commence. cheers toto
If it were me I'd definitely build the brake composite vehicle as a staff riding mess van because of the hand brake facility... very useful on engineers trains when the staff accommodation is detached from the works vehicles during an engineering possession (or even an imaginary one). Second on the list would be the full brake built up as a tool van.
I thought of the brake composite / third as well. Dundee went with the full brake. Looks like another call to Jim as the composite is the only one I dont actually have .... but its my preference too. decision made ..... cheers toto
Order placed for a 2 compartment brake third complete with wheels. Now whilst on the subject of wheels. Jim did not have any of the original spokes type of wheels in stock but did say that when these coaches were turned over to departmental conversions etc, they were often rewheeled with more up to date wheels. So 3 hole disc sets have been accepted as a replacement. Looking forward to getting my mitts on this and getting cracking with it ..... even the tumblehome. Cheers for now Toto
Oh my God, what have we released on to the world, a pandemic we can cope with but a Toto with a mojo ........ Still prefer the full brake Paul
I thought about the full brake as maybe a mobile fabrication workshop. Just a thought. I'm now looking for white metal cast figures to suit. Engineers etc. Cheers Toto
