G`day Folks, Welcome to Gormo`s Shed although nothing is actually happening in my shed this week. In fact it`s all happening at Rosehill Racecourse in Sydney, Australia. The Platform 1 team is out there in force exhibiting courtesy of the Epping Model Railway Club, who organize the event. This venue is excellent for this type of event and I`m sure you`ll get a sense of it in the video. For us Sydney siders, the big model railway exhibition usually has always been the Liverpool Exhibition hosted by the Australian Model Railway Association, NSW Branch. Liverpool attracts a good number of layouts and traders and consequently, model railroaders, however after visiting this weekends exhibition put on by the Epping Club, I feel Sydney now has two major exhibitions for model rail. This is great news for the hobby, especially as the Epping Club has set the bar quite high. The venue at Rosehill is superb, with good parking and public transport access......it doesn`t get much better than that !!! Enjoy the exhibition........settle in `cause it`s about a half hour trip. Gormo
It was good to meet you finally gormo Im sure Gary and Chris may chime in about tbe show Im backing up for mondays finale. One highlight for me was talking to Michael Flack who partnered with Geoff Nott on "smugglers cove". If you are not familiar with this layout do a google search Cameron
Great video Gormo A lot of the layouts seem to be a bit on the large size, must take ages to set up. Ed
Looked like a great exhibition. Some very good layouts. Mind you I am surprised that some models aren't in earth orbit as they were being run at speeds coming close to earth escape velocity. Good camera work Gormo. Kind regards Geoff
Thanks for putting this together Gormo. I was planning to attend on Monday but the weather has been so feral that I probably won't get there. Gary and Chris's layouts look excellent as per usual but, unfortunately, a lot of the others have been seen soooo many times before and all the ones set in country Australia start to look like each other after a while. I have to agree with Geoff (Chatty) - great camera work. Ian
Was great to see another perspective of the exhibits, some that I saw, most that I didn't. This one was my first full day at one (got a one-day only leave pass) and it was great. Got to talk to lots of interesting people both Platform One and others. Gary even let me play-I mean demonstrate, his layouts. Had a lot of people coming up impressed that we were running a shunting layout and as exhibitors we actually had to do something, not just set and forget and let trains go round and round, not even stopping for stations. Just watched this video after coming back, and the general noise of the whole hall just brought me right back there again. Chris's layout looks good in the photos, in the flesh it looks absolutely amazing. Coming back with the family and two other families tomorrow so might get to see the further away ones. Now to go and unpack my shines. Cheers Tony
Thanks for the video Gormo Some Rosehill Gardens Train Exhibition photos: Didn’t get much of a chance to see the layouts I have seen more on Gormo’s video than I have to at the show
Nice video Gormo, thanks for all your hard work, videoing and editing this together. Now, rather than start a new thread, I'll just add today's pics to your thread, keep everything together. Murray Bridge. These exhibitors traveled up from South Australia, some 1200 kms (745 miles) ! A mighty C Class leads it's train over the bridge on Murray Bridge. Upwey. A very nice little layout that was built prototypically in length. For obvious reasons Tthe curves are not prototypical... Upwey Wishing Well Halt, quite quaint ! The Black 5 and it's mixed goods train. Beautiful bridge detail (Upwey). Cockle Creek, a nice N scale NSW layout that occasionally runs a few British trains ! Sorry, not too many pics, but I'll get out tomorrow and take plenty more... Cheers, Gary.
Some fantastic layouts as always. Still to watch the video. Away to pour a cold beer, kick back and take it all on. Thanks to everyone for the pictures and Gormo for the video. Toto
Just finished watching the video for the first time. The quality of these layouts are outstanding. The size ....... Wow. I hope these guys get something for their efforts. It must be a logistical nightmare bringing some of these to the show not to mention setting them up. Very difficult to pick a favourite as they were all first class. However, one thing I will say is that it's no surprise that we attract so many members to the forum. Our members layouts and the promotion of Platform one is second to none. Very professionally done and very open and inviting. Well done to all involved and again, to Gormo Productions for producing yet another very professionally executed and entertaining film. Great show guys. Toto
Brilliant video Gormo , very professional! The layouts were great, and thanks for the stills Gary. Looking forward to your updates! Cheer's, Pete.
Just getting over my second day at the exhibition and looking forward to the last day. We have all promised ourselves a group photo of all the PFM1 guys on duty but have been so busy talking to interested modellers that we have not had the opportunity. Amazing how a quick hello turns into a half hour discussion and a new PFM 1 member. Have some good pics but now need a bit of rest before the last day. Cheers Richard
I appreciate how busy these shows can be. Folks can get very enthusiastic and the conversations are usually great crack. Until you have taken part in an exhibition, it's not so obvious just how much hard work it can be. The thing is, our guys leave nothing to chance and really push the boat out. Any potential new members will see that the same philosophy translates straight into the way we welcome people on the forum. All great stuff and a credit to the hobby in general as well as yourselves and the forum. Keep up the great work and enjoy.
Thanks Guys for all your comments, It was also nice to meet some more members from Platform 1........good to see you all... Top idea adding pics from the exhibition into this thread so we can keep it all together. Gormo........must go.....we`ve got a party going on here today.....lots to do.
Completely agree with Gormo. This is an excellent venue, easy parking and transport, big hall, and edible food and drinkable coffee. It really is a second major exhibition for Sydney. Very friendly approachable exhibitors too, with lots to teach, including Platform 1 of course.
Hi All It never ceases to amaze me how quickly these shows pack up. We had cars loaded and ready to go at the 1 hour mark. Most of the big layouts were already packed up and waiting to be or already loaded into their trailers. The biggest bottleneck was getting the cars into the pick up area. A long line was observed. Cameron
Aaaah!!!!....the party is over and all is cleaned up........I`m stuffed However, going back through this thread now, there are some wonderful pics and positive comments about the exhibition. Surely this exhibition would have to be classed as a triumph for the Epping Club and also for all involved who made it happen....????? Well done chaps.........it was a pleasure to attend. Gormo
