Friday 27th April 2018, and a birthday outing to my favourite Welsh narrow gauge railway of all time, the Ffestiniog. Arriving in Blaenau in time to catch the 15:05 service to Porthmadog, I enjoyed a ride along the famous 13 mile route behind 1992-built Double Fairlie locomotive David Lloyd George. The scenery was as spectacular as ever expected, the weather held up quite well, and there was a surprise at the halfway point of Tanybwlch; ex-Penrhyn Hunslet 2-4-0 Blanche (turning 125 years old in 2018 alongside her sister engine Linda) on a driver experience/private charter. Here are a few views from that day... Comments welcomed as always.
