PS: the 'silver tabs' are actually the white insulation on the droppers. My phone didn't get a great pic that time
A bit more progress: . back boards made from 3mm mdf, and primered . track masked off with magical blue tape . expanding foam blown into one corner, roughly level with track plus a bit higher right in the corner . Foam expanded..... a lot, a helluva lot. Covered track and then some . top of foam mountain carved out to display charming bread-like texture, plus a lot of un-dried raw sticky foam . raw sticky foam left to dry . more carving to make the corner level with track Attached files
You could say that you are expanding the layout at a rapid rate ! Now you know what the expansion in the foam is like, you should be able to control the rest of the foaming in other areas. Is the foam sticky enough to adhere to the baseboard ?? Cheers, Gary.

I have chisel it off the back board where the glad wrap came away as the foam expanded I think there are a couple of different types of foam available - high yield which I think is what I used, and lower yield stuff I'm off to Bunnings to get some more. The next job is to infill around the mountain. I also want to do a tunnel at the other end of the layout. This will be done with fly netting and foam over the top. I'm hopeful the foam will set and form a reasonably hard shell, and not take over the rest of the layout or dribble through the netting Onwards and upwards
