No ...... not what you might be thinking. we'd be taken off the air if we done that. :avatar:

Here is the deal for a new series of sporadic unannounced competitions.

There will be no warning or announcement of them. :scratchchin: so .... how do you know about them. ...... simple ...... from time to time I will put up a competition which will be hidden within a thread. It could be any thread. You will find that the competition subject will probably have been conceived by an idea within the thread in which it's been created.

I will give details of what you need to do to win the stated prize and a timescale that you must have returned your answer or submission by.

    The rules ......

If you come across the competition, you must not go identifying it to others or posting up about it anywhere else on the forum. Anyone who does will be disqualified from entering. There will be no punishment as such, you will just be seen as being a party pooper.

To give an example of what this may look like and what kicked off the idea.

I was reading York Paul's thread on his class 24 build. SBt posted up a photo of one of his previous class 24 builds and the detail ( prototypically ) is fantastic. ..... I was going to challenge anyone to find another example of a kit which would better it ( firmly believing that it would be very difficult ). I would have asked folks to have their entries ( photographic ) with details of the kit posted up in the same thread within a certain time period.

On this occasion I would have asked York Paul to judge it due to his working knowledge of the prototype and the winner would have won the prize. If nobody comes back with a submission and of course one that meets the criteria ...... nobody wins the competition. The prize advertised will roll on to another competition.

The time frame would have been around a week from the post going up ...... hence the name ....... Flash competitions ..... quick and unannounced.

Why am I doing this ...... well ...... generally, although the example above may not have been an easy one, most of the " flash competition " going forward will be easier and will be within most folks remit to win without having to do much ......... other than maybe look at the various forum posts on a day to day basis to be in with a chance of finding and entering the competition.

There could be two or three throughout the year and of course all our normal programmed competitions as well.

I obviously won't be using the example that triggered the thought as mentioned above now ....... but you have been warned now so ....... take note and keep your eyes open on the various threads going forward.

Remember ...... don't be a party pooper by identifying the whereabouts of these when you find them. It's a bit of fun and I hope we can take it in the spirit in which it's meant. Also remember that there will be tight deadlines given and no late entries will be accepted. If I don't get a submission which matches the criteria given ...... then there is no winner and the prize will be offered elsewhere.

Feel free to ask any questions on this thread if you are unsure.

    Cheers

Any chance of knowing in advance the modelling gauge of the offered prize in each individual competition Toto? I know many members are 'Rubber Gaugers', but not all are, and it's better if the prize is of use to the winner.

    Hi Keith

I'll try and accommodate everyone. I'll have a think on how I can make it work. Many of the sponsors are predominantly o gauge but I am trying to address the balance by supplying OO gauge prizes myself or providing prizes which are Gauge neutral.

    I'll do my best.

    Cheers
