Well I thought I would start a thread dedicated to my soon to be started exhibition layout Gaer Junction. The layout will hopefully be available for exhibitions in about 2 years time.
The scenic section will be about 12 foot long with sector plate fiddle yards either side.
Some of the initial pictures will duplicate my work bench thread but as this will be quite a big project I think it deserves its own thread.
The South Wales main line was a very busy route and I will be modelling it pre1961 before the semaphore signalling was removed and Multiple aspect signalling installed.
I intend to replicate a lot of the traffic that would have been seen at that time.
I will start with a few prototype pictures to get the feel of the place.

Here's a good colour view, the footbridge will form the other scenic brake.

Tunnel mouths to the footbridge including the first junction
Scale it should be 12 foot.
I'd love to go further but it would be 40 foot long.!!
There are some lovely signal gantry's that Jon will be commissioned to build.

This is looking like a really nice project at 12ft a manageable size how wide will it be ??
And your right the signals Jon dose will look sensational and very unique.

I'm not 100% sure how wide it will be yet, 4 foot minimum as I do want some of the embankments in either side.
Here's a recent picture I took. This will change again shortly as the wires are due to go up soon.

This will definitely be worth watching. As you have shown already, it will be the attention to detail that will highlight this model. The two types of masonry used on the tunnel mouth is just one interesting feature, let alone the signal gantry, signal box, type of terrain and so on. Looking forward to this Steve.

    Cheers, Gary.

I like the wagon, I hadn't looked at the Peco O gauge wagons - I will have to now.

This one is from the peco range, lovely kits that can be built quite quickly. I will build a few more of their vans as the same van was used for fish traffic just different vents on the ends.
I need one of their permenant way Toad brake vans and about 15 iron ore mineral wagons!!!!

Tap castings for the Heljan B tank. A nice detail unfortunately missed off by Heljan but luckily JLTRT do the right casting.
    One down 14 to go!!!
This will be the Roath Dock Cardiff to Soho Birmingham Regent oil train.
