    Never heard of this crowd before but I have one now. No wheels or anything, just the kit. Pictures to follow soon.

    Yes but I've seen some of Steve fays and have wanted one ever since. I would not have went out my way to get one but this sucker was staring me in the face ......... I had to have it. Steve's look terrific.

    At least with the GWR locos the outside motion is quite simple.

    Sorry I can't comment on the buildability or otherwise of Gateneal kits. I have heard of them but with them being mainly GWR oriented I have to confess that I haven't paid much attention.

    The turned spacers give an idea as to the age of the kit, most mern kits have etched frame spacers these days.

    There’s a nice Finney Hall on the Ellis Clark web site complete with Malcolm Mitchell tender slater’s wheels and a JLTRT resin boiler. £500 I’d be very tempted but I’ve just had a hall built and I’ve got a modified hall kit tucked away upstairs

    Had I not had a few in the build queue I would have been tempted by that to build and sell on after Warren had done his bit with it but the Finney kit took preference...

    Gateneal have a poor reputation for the quality of their etches. I have built a couple and had to replace some parts and on one had to scratch build the whole chassis, apart from that they are great kits...............

    Now seriously Toto I know my last comment was totally tongue in cheek but I did read somewhere of a chap who ran a Thomas Tank character just as an appeal for the kids, I'm not suggesting you take a top notch kit and mess with it but something cheapo in time painted bright blue, red or green could go down well with family audiences. Certainly not top of your priority list at the mo I'd think.

    Sorry to say this kit is not a good one, the manufacturer wasnt highly regarded at the time, i had a castle from this supplier, only my second ever kit all those years ago, dam near killed my enthusiasm for the hobby, if i recall the etches weren't good cab sides were different sizes, nothing lined up and the thing was fighting me all the way, castings average at best instructions that said, now make the firebox out of parts x,y and z really not helpful and a poor advert for the scale.
    I ditched mine and part exchanged it at a model shop for some n gauge..

    I suggest you dispose of it by that internet auction site and put the money raised towards a king from scorpio, or await the day david Andrews restarts production (one hopes) i wouldn't buy one now either even 22 years later..
