Just won these last night on Ebay, and once again, I've no idea how good/bad/indifferent this maker might be as I've never heard of them before, but only paid £16.50 for the three. Anyone else heard of, or experience of Genesis???

Other than seeing them at one or two exhibitions, I've never had any knowledge of them regarding what they are like to build, or their quality, but, WHAT A BARGAIN!!! Nice one Keith.

Only won them last night Toto, but had a 'despatched' email from Ebay, so maybe delivered by weekend. As they're white metal, It might be safer to assemble with Araldite, but I'll judge it better when I've had a good look at them. I'll probably post an assessment then, and possibly a 'How-to' if they're any good. Watch this space!:avatar:

I built their armour plate and fish belly war flat wagons. There was a little bit of flash to clean up but the main parts soldered together very easily. Smaller parts where glued on with a two pack glue.
Some nice different models in their range.

Look forward to seeing the build Keith

Just received these kits today. After a quick look, I think it'll be better (and recommended by the kit makers) to solder them rather than Araldite. I have 145 degree solder, but not the recommended 100 degree, so have some on order, and I'll wait until it arrives before making a start.

No worries Keith. I used 70 degree solder on the lowmac. But I still have the experiment to do to find out how low I can get the temperature so that the solder still melts but not the white metal.

I will do it soon because as soon as the lowmac is done, I may tackle my 02 class white metal shunter.

    Cheers

    Toto

I have replied in one of Toto's posts (Lowmac) about low melt solder and the RSU (Resistance Soldering Unit), see here : http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_post.php?post_id=33956

    Cheers, Gary.
