Originally ordered for collection at Telford but placed it now. Ordered with motor, gears, wheels etc. This looks a great addition to my caiiage / wagon works / maintenance train. Pictures when it arrives ..... Estimated on Monday. Toto
Checked the web site out, looks an interesting locomotive to build. Have you decided on what colour to paint it yet, as the red / maroon in the photo on the web page, I think suits it well and might show off the detailing better than the normal black. Will be yet another interesting build to watch.......should think by now your booked up to 2020 for builds Kim
Well if you google industrial steam locos you get a few steam locos in "lighter" colours, lots of copy rights on the picture Here's a diesel model http://www.lmlr.org.au/shared/P1020660.JPG
Postie was on overtime today. the Ramsbottom arrived ....... and again ..... had to buy the wheels, motor, plunger pick ups, gearbox etc etc as seperate parts when I bought this from Tower Models. and they give you both long and short crane jibs ..... and the usual brass and white metal add ons .....with a resin boiler. and the chassis ..... and the rest of the cab, buffer and boiler parts etc. again ..... its a nice kit and I hope I can do it justice. Thats all for now. cheers toto
Had the chance to have a closer look at this kit. I have this version with the crane ( 0 - 4 - 2 ) and a Ramsbottom without the crane ( 0 - 4 - 0 ) . Both will be assigned to my wagon works depot as private industrial loco's. It looks at first sight that it may be pissinly to fit a mini servo into the bunker space which the crane sits on and actually have the crane able to revolve. I doubt it will raise and lower but revolving is a possibility. It looks a reasonably straight forward build aided by the resin boiler. I have all the parts necessary for construction so it is ready to go.the rest of the kit is a mixture of nickel silver chassis, brass and white metal. The livery has not been decided but being private owner could be anything. There are examples of it being done in a maroon / burgundy which looks good but we'll see. Probably joins the queue after Nellie and the Class 02. Cheers Toto
Hi Gormo, There is also a Manning Wardle kit available where the crane sits on top of the chimney. Steam driven but the loco itself dates way back. This kit, date wise was more suitable.i can't remember ever having seen one at any exhibition hug as you say, a great talking point. Toto
Like that little engine a lot, if you can get the jib to swing it would deffo be a talking point!! Cheer's, Pete.
One set of boiler back head detail parts bought from Laurie Gfriffin for this as it starts to float towards the top of the build list.
It was really just by chance that I stumbled across them and they look excellent. I just hope there are destructions to explain where some of these parts are actually situated. I'm going all out on the 0-4-2 with some extras. Cheers Toto
I bought lost wax suspension springs for this at the same time as I bought them for the 0-4-0 4 foot shunter build ( ongoing at the moment ). This kit is a little bit down the line at the moment as when the 0-4-0 is complete, I have a connoisseur coach build and then I am considering my 4F. So, we are talking potentially 3 builds away. a couple of weeks max for the coach and allow 2 months for the 4F. We could be talking about end of July. The good thing is that this is virtually the same build as the 0-4-0 version but with the crane to add. A little longer in size. The build does not worry me though as I reckon I have picked up on all the gotcha's from doing the 0-4-0 build. This will speed the build up considerably. Looking forward to it. Toto
