The Rubber band started to get really rubbery again today I have always liked the scenic's of the Canadian mountain gorges And with Flickr friends posting inspiring photos chasing trains through the wild country like this photo by Christian Vazzaz Winter Shadows by Christian Vazzaz, on Flickr it was only a matter of time before something happened, And it did little while ago I got 2 AC4400 locos in CP red livery they are S/H but had never been run. Plus At a price that would have been rude To say no to them. CP #8530 and #9551 As in the manufactures stock photos below. Canadian Pacific Modelling Canadian Pacific Modelling So whilst speed matching the DCC decoders in the Two CP units, I thought I'll add a photo icon of the locos to the DCC roster a quick google search and lots of photos esp of #8530 like the one below with a Blue AC4400 loco behind these are a leasing company Locos and from the info are generally leased on a permanent basis to CP CP AC4400 GE locos the next photo along on the Google search was from an evil bay add with a HO version well it ended up being a current add for a new old stock blue Athearn RTR Ac4400 with buy it now or make an offer , well now I'll make a stupid silly silly low offer expecting to get a reject then I may get it a bit cheaper with a counter offer and 5 minutes later a shock it was accepted and so its cost more to post from the US than it cost to buy so I guess a lucky buy at a rock bottom bargain price. A stock photo from the manufacture of the blue AC4400 Canadian Pacific Modelling by CHRIS, on Flickr Now I don't need to buy any rolling stock to go with these as have plenty and they will generaly be run on the club layout in a similar format to the real ones 2 locos on the front and a mid train helper really easy to do with DCC just set up as a consist all speed matched just have to wait a week or two for the big blue one So you can have a Win every now and again doesn't help the rubber gauging though it's too hard so to resist
I'd like to travel on one of those trains for real, through that scenery, that would be a trip of a lifetime. Gonna watch this thread with a special interest, rubbery or not
tanygaer wrote: Hi Tany This part of Canada is full of really inspiring scenery and I'm with you wanting a train ride there. Not likely to happen for me so a model dream is as close as I will get probably a bit cheaper too. With images like these I cant under stand how I get so distracted. Then get a little rubbery again. Just remembered I have a enough left over building materials to build a long skinny layout someone stop me before I get in trouble CP Manifest at Lytton by Christian Vazzaz, on Flickr EB Potash, Bow River by Christian Vazzaz, on Flickr CN 570, IC 2703 South by Christian Vazzaz, on Flickr
There is no way to stop you, Chris. You are as bad if not worse than me. I suppose I'll need to fire up any rail to do you a track plan when I get home. Ian
This HO scale North American modelling is catching on... Has Ian been putting something in the water ?? Jack purchased 5 x second hand N/A wagons for his new shunting plank over the exhibition weekend, as it was part of his 'payment' for his duties. Jack also thanks you for the point. Cheers, Gary.
Ahhhh ...... Did I hear you say ...... New plank ? You'll need to get young jack on to explain himself I think. I sense a new layout thread starting Toto
leadie69 wrote: Hi Ian that was some Great news this morning again congrats to you both. Ian I am as "bad" as you, you do it in micro layouts, I just go a bit bigger Re the Anyrail it will be a basic on the edge of a gorge track with the odd bridge and tunnel and a cascading river at the very front I will do a bit of prelim drawing then we can see if it works in Anyrail. Thanks everyone for the comments As for Ian encouraging it Gary, with me, It goes way back to when I was first born dad would would sit me in a bouncer and I would be watching UP Big Boys and New York Hudson's run past on long trains on his layout. I have a big selection of early UP and Rio Grande diesel's and a few UP and Rio Grande steamers like challenger's and Big Boys and light Mountain classes. Jack time to get dad helping on that new layout and you can do your own build topic. Hope that point comes in handy. Great to know Jack found some wagons for his layout too. Time to start saving you pocket money Jack for the brick pit always some cheap quality US rolling stock in the second hand stall there even some really cheap US locos
I'm looking forward to see what you come up with Chris. These photos look great. Plenty ideas to kick things off.As far as Gary and Jack go, they are a formidable team. I'm looking forward to them showing their hand as well. Whatever it is, it will be compulsive viewing. Cheers Toto
"light Mountains" - thats almost bigger than anything that ran in this country. Can't sat too much, there's a 44T switcher, 2 x GP9's, a mountain, a doodlebug, half a dozen heavy weight coaches and approx 20 assorted wagons all waiting for a home, some have been converted to DCC, but the GP9's and the 44T are still DC. So I have the stock, just have to get around to building something for them - it's ok Toto, I know not before the Dundee show, or Breadalbane gets its traverser. Those pictures don't half get the creative juices stirring tho' Paul
Got to agree I would love to take a trip on one of those , so whoever wins the lotto . . . its a big boys trip then Cheers Matt
This turned up in the post on Thursday and I fitted a TCS Decoder direct plug 9pin JST if I get a chance will take up to the club and give a test run today. The blue AC4400 in the second photo in the first post in model form. Attached files
