Nice truck and steam engine ! Both a very nice addition to GCJ.
I remember as a child (not that long ago some will say...:whatever:), that these old beast were painted up static models placed in parks around Sydney for kids to climb on, Oatley Park for example.

Will the steam engine be a static model on display in Great Chesterford Park or the town's forecourt/centre ??

    Cheers, Gary.

    OK....G`day Folks,
I hope you`ve all recovered from Christmas and New Year festivities and welcome to 2016 on Gormo`s thread.
Now settle down....don`t get too excited.....especially you Matt....lean back away from the screen please mate........thank you
I have a new project on the boil in parallel with my normal railway build. It`s very much in the design process at the moment but I`m confident it will work. Full details and pictures will follow in the next few days as I am waiting on a special delivery in the post.
Actually I will do a video as well so you`ll get the complete story. Stay tuned.
    More as it happens

Toto is getting warm....well?????....actually tepid would be a better word, however gentlemen, some of your technical descriptions show that you are well versed in engineering terms......I`m impressed....:whatever:.....
We haven`t heard from Matt yet......this`ll be good........oh boy????
I believe he`s secretly developing a Phoofer ( pronounced Foofer ) Valve for his control panel. Hhmmm....wonder how that`s going????. I use the Architectural spelling however it can also be written Foofer. The link below explains it in detail if you are not already familiar with the term.
    Foofer Valve

Oh well chasps.....I`m off to count sheep......see you on the morrow...goodnight all:giggle:

    No Matt,
A person can`t be a Foofer........a Foofer is a valve old mate.....see the link above. They can be metric or imperial, left handed or right handed and they come in a multitude of colours.
    Cheers

    G`day Folks,
Well here it is ....the long agonizing couple of days of eager anticipation is now over. I am about to reveal my secret project. I had to keep it under wraps because Spielberg has his spies everywhere....he`s breathing down my neck lately....Sheeesh!!....Buzz off Steven!!
    Okey dokey,
The project is a sports camera fitted to a wagon to enable drivers eye view videos to be taken in wide screen format and HD. Unfortunately the camera is a cheap as chips model so I get some flicker in my video from the railway room lights. But hey...who cares???....beggars can`t be choosers...so we do the best we can with what we`ve got.

So this is the camera. The brand is TOPO...no not Toto.... it`s HD 1080p and about the size of a small torch

This is the connection end. Any advanced adjustments such as contrast, AWB, sharpness etc. have to be done with it connected to the computer.

It came with various mountings so I used this one to fit it to an old Tyco wagon.

It`s simply a screw connection underneath

I also fitted a small Bachmann coupling to one end to match my rolling stock

Here it is fitted to the wagon

And finally here is a sample video that was shot with it.....except for my intro. You may notice some back ground noise at the start. It was raining cats and dogs at the time.
    Enjoy!!

    Thanks Guys,
Tany it`s not my original idea.....I just pinched it from the web. There`s lots of folks doing similar things. You can even get a camera / transmitter system where the camera transmits a drivers eye view to a screen and you drive the loco from what you see on the screen. Big bucks I would imagine.??
Gary you gave me that idea for the low down shots yesterday when you were here. Thanks mate.
Toto the crew are OK as long as you keep `em in line....they`re cheeky little sods.
Ron yes it is versatile.....it just gives me a few more options when compiling videos. In my opinion model trains filmed at track level gives a more dramatic / interesting video. It draws you into that miniature world when you see it on a screen.
    Cheers
    Gormo
