Green lane siding..

Discussion in 'Planks, Switching and Shelf Layouts' started by Kevin Johnson, Jan 21, 2022.

  1. Had a spare photo plank from scalemodelscenery and I wanted to make I diorama for photographing some of my Dapol grampus wagons and some locomotives that pulled these wagons.

Here I have added a picture of the plank which I will be adding track, ballast, foliage and other scenery and lineside items.

The great thing about dioramas Kevin is that you can get in nice and close from all sides with detailing and of course if used as a photo base in good natural daylight modeling can be taken to another level of realism and interest. Nice start and looking forward to seeing this project come to fruition.:tophat::tophat:

Looking forward to seeing more as it progresses. I like watching dioramas being built. So many skills required as you tackle a bit of everything.

    Cheers for now

Great start to your project Kevin, I'm following with interest mate!

  6. Hi first of all thank you for the likes.

Anyway some progress has been made, the Baseboard has been built and some surface paint has been added before the peco track was laid.

  7. Postman delivered one of my Dutch Grampus wagons today [IMG]lovely little model.

On the siding plank I have added some concrete slabs, these will be painted and weathered up in due course. I have also added a bit of a structure where a small grassy area will be that will be overgrown.

  8. Hi hope everyone are safe and well.

Some progress last night and this morning. The concrete slabs have been painted and weathered and I'm happy with the way they have turned out.

The raised structures where the grassy areas are, are complete I did this using my tried and tested method cardboard and kitchen roll soaked in PVA.

This needs to dry fully before I can add an earthy colour.

The fence posts are in place just need to paint them up.

  9. Hi this morning I have been concentrating on completing the ballasting on Green lane siding. I'm really pleased with the way the ballasting looks.

Once this has dried fully I can start add weathering to the ballast to emulate rust, grime and oil spillage.

Coming along nicely, like the idea with kitchen roll and pva. I may experiment with this.

I use this method too, like you I'm impressed at how hard it sets.
