I had a couple of resin crates which I'd (badly) painted. A few hours soaking in dilute dettol and the enamel paint scraped off easily:idea:. After a rinse, I'll re-paint in acrylics and try to make a better job
What other household products have suprising uses?

W5 (Lidl) Window and glass cleaner (blue in colour), works as an acrylic thinner and paint cleaner for airbrushes.

cheap hairspray, used as a fixer for scenic materials and to fix flock to home made trees. Also used to fix the salt in the "salt and hair spray" weathering / rusting process.

Even methylated spirits cleans some plastics. Soak for a few hours then use an old toothbrush.

Surgical Spirit is good too, handy for degreasing gears etc. as well. Oh! and don't forget a box of plasters. The ones from Superdrug are great.

Apart from the obvious they can be used for holding things together whilst glue dries. (Plastics only no good on card)

Thanks Bittern I've used insulation tape before but never thought of using plasters, probably the cheaper the better so they aren't too sticky ? elimatta I found it really hard to locate un scented hairspray !, The closest I could find was lightly scented :whatever: and that wasn't that cheap :p

    Cheers
