I've done it again, another unknown (to me!) kit bought on Ebay, a 'Keysers" white metal kit for an S.R./B.R. "Lord Nelson", complete kit with wheels/motor/gearbox, not a bad price of £40, but as before, I've no idea of the quality or otherwise of these kits. Having had an 'MTK', and a 'Jidenco' kit and then found neither had exactly a great reputation, (but made a presentable model in the end), I'm sort of hoping I might be 'third time lucky' and have won a 'crock of gold' at the price, rather than a 'crock of something brown and smelly!' Opinions, good/bad/indifferent from previous experience are welcomed. keith.
Never heard of them Keith but for £40.00 all in, must be worth a punt. look forward to how you get on with it. Cheers Toto
Keyser was more commonly known as K's. There is a long running thread called "what have you done with your Keyser kit on RMWeb - Here which has a lot of nice examples. I have only ever built one K's kit which was one of my first attempts at soldering white metal. I was happy with the results at the time.
I've built a few over the years. Yes, they can be hard work but with dilligence will make into a very nice model. A big bit of advise though, ditch the K's wheels and replace with Romford/Markits or whatever. If the motor and gears are the standard K's ones ditch them as well.
