Lima Class 33 advertised on E Bay; Body is in tatty condition. It looks like it may have had some repainting. It has etched name plates added. Some windows are missing, some are fitted with flush glazing and some are in poor condition. Coupling lift arms are missing. Box is very tatty. Loco did run on test however it did need a push start and sometimes stalls. I've never really been impressed by the Lima Class 33 - looks too plain at the ends, and a bit 'plastic' (which of course it is). However, this had been detailed, and looked quite good, so I thought I'd take a punt and buy it. £25.00 15 minutes working on the wheels, cleaning up the motor and a light lubrication - advert would now read; Body in excellent condition. Been resprayed to a high standard. It has etched nameplates, cooling fan, snowploughs and various other detailing added added. Some windows are missing but those that are present are flush glazed. Coupling arms missing. Box is in good condition compared to some of the knackers I've got and complete. Loco runs superbly - quiet and very slow running. I'm really impressed with this. All of my Lima locos are good runners - but this one is possibly only pipped by the Class 20. Not as good a bargain as Keith's 9F, but I'm very happy I do hope this video upload works as I rarely get it right first time
I had one of these some years ago, it was a non runner, the body was OK but the paint finish was 'orrible. I stripped it completely apart, repainted it in BR green and detailed it. The motor was stripped and serviced, all wheels and pick ups cleaned and away she went, a lovely runner. I passed it on to my father in law who managed to destroy it along with an Airfix 4F. I didn't give him any more locos. Cheer's, Pete.
