Linden Ford was built up using left over track from my son's layout and some realy second hand track that had been lifted from my previous layout. I wanted to build something to play with whilst I built my other layout, Kelly Bray. I tried to use as much second hand materials and left over scenic supplies from the box of tricks. Most structures on the layout was made from either card, styrene or scale timber. Linden Ford has been covered in other forums, so I'll post some pics of the layout for now. If there are any questions regarding the small layout, fire away ! First up, a few black and whites. I took these pics before I was born in 1967... Ok now, some colour... Oh, a train... ! and another... One for Toto, a Class 22 on shunting duties... An over-view of the yard at Linden Ford... A close-up of the goods shed... The Station Masters house..., which hides the point controls and isolating switches. The SM's cat, 'Charlie' (named after our ginger !). A photo from Gormo's collection at a recent exhibition..., hence the shuffling cards on the layout. On Linden Ford's 2nd outing, Jack and I were quite surprised to receive this... Both Jack and I were stoked to take out 'Best New Layout' at the Epping exhibition. Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary, Thanks for the tour of a Linden Ford. Terrific images and of course ........ Excellent modelling. Cheers Toto
G`day Gary, Good to see Linden Ford pics once more........it`s a beautiful little layout and photographs extremely well. Cheers Gormo PS.....Hang on a minute?????......you took some of these pictures before you were born??????? Gary I told you not to say anything about the time machine we were building out in the shed!!!!.....now everybody knows!!!!....Sheeeeeshh!!!
Yep, Gormo has a time machine in his shed. When I visited a couple of weeks ago, we actually went back in time, about an hour...!! Actually, talking about time... After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, American scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 173 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago. Not to be outdone, in the weeks that followed, a British Archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, a story published in the The Times : "British archaeologists, finding traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the Americans". One week later, the Australian authorities reported the following: "After digging as deep as 30 feet in Western New South Wales, Jack O'Altrades, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely f*** all. Jack has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Australia had already gone wireless." Cheers, Gary.
Gary Great layout, and congrats on the award you both deserve it. And I laughed at the jokes, did have to explain it to the boss tho', but didsay that she'd understand it better if I were modelling in 0 gauge - I should get 12/10 for trying. Paul
Thanks for the kind words. As for O gauge, you could always let the boss know that your struggling with seeing things clearly in OO, and that doubling the size would be the way to go ! Cheers, Gary. ps. The boss isn't standing behind you reading this is she...??
No... not behind me, but I may need to move up to G scale, when she pokes one of my eyes out Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Paul
Thanks Gormo and Toto, much appreciated. This weekend I'll be dusting down Linden Ford, getting it ready for the Forestville exhibition. Hopefully not too much will be required to get it into tip top condition. Have been watching a few youtube videos of late on British industrial branchlines. I need to add a few more scenic items then dirty up Industry Lane... Cheers, Gary.
Link to the Forestville Exhibition details at least 4 British layouts including Gary's Linden Ford in OO and two O scales layouts and a NCB coal theme layout in OO http://www.nsrma.com.au/exhibition.htm Exhibition flyer by CHRIS, on Flickr Congrats on a top photo of the week Gary. Edit layout #'s and details
Thanks for posting this up Chris. With the exhibition on the 5/6th March, just over 2 weeks away, I thought that I would have had a phone call from the Exhibition Manager, or even received an email conformatiion... Here is a link to Exhibition detailing all the layouts and stands ; http://www.nsrma.com.au/exhibition.htm Cheers, Gary.
Sorry Gary I'll not make it, especially after going to Model Rail Scotland the week before, don't think I have that many brownie points in the bag. Paul
