Hi, can anybody give me advice please.
I have converted an Airfix Brake 3rd Non Corridor 54253-9 into a Push/Pull unit using Wizard replacement ends and fittings. (Yes I know it shouldn't have a lavatory, but rule 1 applies.)

The problem I have is that all the photos I can find of the Drivers end fittings are either black and white, or really wishy washy colour ones. Can anybody advise on correct colours please. Also the top fitting which I presume is a klaxon of some kind.

I have to attach wipers yet.

    Cheers

    Hi Jim

In my LMS COACH 1923 to 1957 By B Essery and D Jenkinson Plate 28 d shows a Period 2 coach, the end is definately Maroon, as the black lining is definately a different shade of grey - maybe a tiltle for a book. Unable to find any pictures of the coaches in Period 3 livery.

According to the same book, coach ends were painted crimson until the close of 1936, when except for driving ends of motor driving trailers were then painted black. No further mention is made for when / if the the driving ends were painted black. Sorry not much clarity to offer. Jenkinsons Historic Carrige drawings Vol 2 LMS basically states the same for livery changes.

Hi Paul, That's been the problem using photos.
People who have posted photos of models, have painted them black or crimson. Thanks for the info.

Don't suppose you've any idea about the fittings colours ? I assume there are air and vacuum pipes , but there are 2 which appear to be jumper cables for multiple working.
    Thanks again

I would assume black - weatherd black that is, however, the old saying of assume, can make an ASS out of yoU and ME :avatar:

Possibly with the pipes dry brushed with a little gunmetal, and the hoses being a browny black for weathered rubber, just a guess tho
