I've been using the 'Metal' version of 5 minute Araldite as opposed to the 'general' version and found it ok Pete. They've recently changed the pack design and I wonder if the formula has been changed also and the 'general' version is perhaps now less suited to bonding metals like brass/white metal. The price has certainly gone up in recent months too!

I think the backhead is a Laurie Griffen one, though I can't remember where I got it from :whatever:

Slowly but surely I'm getting there. Chimney fitted, smokebox dart too. I've also put the boiler bands on, if I had thought the build through, I should have put them on in brass. I've actually used strips of sticky label, to save them from getting damaged when I clean up I've painted them with clear enamel lacquer. I'm leaving them to dry overnight and then give them a second coat. Lastly I have glued some Grandtline plastic bolts on my buffers which I found the easiest method, I did try Robs method of filing my own bolt heads from brass bar but I couldn't hold them to solder them on, my hands don't always do what I want when the shakes start.

Forgot to mention, I've rolled the cab roof using my multi tool. Its come out nicely, still needs finishing off, it's just plonked on for now.

    Cheers for now, Pete.

I've virtually finished the back head, just some pipework to complete but I can't do that until I've made the two lockers and reverser on the inner cab front. I found my photos for the cab inner fittings, I'm just using them as a rough guide as they won't be seen from the operating distance.
Anyway a couple of photos, my apologies for the poor focus on them, I used my new camera, I've yet to work out the workings of it yet. DSCI0034.JPG

Anyway that is as far as I got today, hopefully more progress tomorrow, SWMBO will no doubt have plans for me.........

    Cheers, Pete.

looking good. as regards the photo it looks like you got closer to the backhead than the lense is capable of focusing to. if your camera has a macro setting id try that next time. If not, standing further away and zooming in and/or cropping the picture should bring it into focus and make it fill the frame

I've given the backhead a quick waft over with primer, it does look good to me.

    Before.
    And after.

Tomorrow I will be mostly spraying it black.

    Cheers, Pete.

The backhead is still in primer but I have got on with some detailing work.
I ordered some parts from Andy Beaton, Ragstone Models. Most but not all arrived very promptly but enough that I could crack on with cab detailing. I was going to make my own reverser but for a fiver...

    Sorry for the poor photo.

And fixed to the plasticard base but not fixed in the cab, still to be painted.

I also managed to get round to some of the other detail parts, the balance pipes on the tank tops, the filler lids and the, I suppose, the vent pipes though I forgot to take a photo of those.

Starting to look like a loco now.

I had to borrow the tank vents from my other kit, I will get some more or make them, but while furtling about in the other kit box I noticed something, or rather didn't, there's no footplate, looks like I will have to make my own!

    Anyway, thats it for now.

    Cheers, Pete.

Pete I really like the detailing on the inside of the cab and your build of the loco is looking fine.
