Yes. My apologies.. that comes with watching it at work between calls! May have missed that! So as long as both up or both down, win - win! Opposite and you’re stuck until you reverse the coupling.

    G`day Folks,
Today saw me attach some magnetic couplings to a rake of two Hornby coaches destined to work the branch line between GCJ and Bamford.
I have left tension locks in the middle of the rake because normally it won`t be divided, so the magnetic couplings are only placed at the front and the rear of the rake.
At this point in time the train will be worked with my Lima prairie which itself has been the subject of some conversions lately.

For these couplings I have used some brass wire to form a fixing point for a single link with a magnet attached. The brass wire is connected to the coach bogie.

I drilled a hole through the tension lock part of the original NEM coupling after removing the hook and also the D ring.
The brass wire is secured under the NEM socket with some UV Glue.
It all moves quite freely and negotiates tight curves etc. and now is much easier to uncouple from the loco for run arounds at the stations

A video below to show it all running

    G`day Folks,
I submit below a video showing parts required and how to build my Magnetic Coupling system.
I think I have ironed out all the bugs, but time will tell

Nice one Gormo.:thumbs::thumbs: The first couple up at Bamford had a nice crash to it, although much smoother coupling at GCJ. ;)

    Cheers, Gary.
