Nice build so far Chris. Pity about all the extra lengths you have to go to for an outstanding model. Maybe the manufacturer should read this thread..., then they can possibly remedy the problems for future kits/moulds.

    Cheers, Gary.

    Hi Gary
I have spoken to the manufacturer and made him aware of the issues found with the castings and to irregularities from the model to the prototype.

I'm getting there waiting for some nice weather been very humid over the past week not very conducive to paint drying with a nice finish.

Loosely assembled hand rails door knobs etc will be installed once the body is painted

    Thanks Paul

It's certainly been an interesting some what odd kit build.

I should have done some research before I started into the build but you sort of think the kit design should be correct for the decscribed prototype.
Fingers crossed for some paint this week and a show at the shop of the manufacturer of the kit that I will be taking the layout too all being well at the end of the week.

Perseverance with these kits is the key I think.
I can understand how new Modellers could be put off kit building forever if they started with something like this one :faint:with unequal sides right off the start then no way of securing the body to the Chassis and the instructions missing several pages didn't help, but it's all good now and will make a nice model once it's painted and in service it will look like the HCX composite coach it's meant to represent.:thumbs:

Lucky I have several reference books that included info on the HCX coach's
Have a quick look at the photo at the bottom page and then the kit built and you can see the difference in the side length hence why I said I should have researched first the built

    Congratulations on PotW Chris.

As usual you have gone above and beyond the expectations of the manufacturer to produce an excellent model. Even though you say it is not entirely prototypical, it looks the part and the work you are doing to it makes it totally worthwhile of having it in the collection and on the layout.

    Cheers, Gary.

Some of the under floor detail you can see the trus rods terminated at the Chassis a bit of a compromise with the hybrid kit to prototype detail as suggested by the kit design the bogies wouldn't have enough swing to negotiate points and curves.
Next is the brake roding and air lines etc lastly will be a belt for the electric generator.
