G'day everyone, it is with much sadness that I announce the sale of my OO layout. After 10 years of building, expanding and playing trains it is time to let it go to a new home. There are Eight 900mm x 1200mm ply and pine baseboards that make up the 4.5m x 2.5m layout. These are free standing on 40mm square pine legs and the sections are held together easily using large bolts. The tracks are all laid on 3mm cork underlay and the majority of the track in the scenic section has been ballasted. The rear three boards are non scenic and these will require to be re-sheeted as I had cut the centre sections out when I added a lower level. This is an easy job though and will present the opportunity to create a scenic section at the back of the layout also. The point work on the scenic section is controlled using a hand made Modratec Lever Frame system and works beautifully and smoothly. The layout has been wired using the dropper method and colour coded high quality multi-strand wire with proper connectors and labelling to join the board sections together. The viaduct was built over many days and every stone was hand scribed using a Dremel tool, so there's a lot of love in that. In fact as many of you will know, there is a lot of love that goes into any layout. As you will have seen from the photos on the layout thread it had plenty of vehicles and buildings . The majority of the later being resin ones from Hornby, with a few scratchbuilt ones as well. If you would like to purchase any of these then we can certainly discuss that. So I guess the all important question now is how much? Well I am thinking $500 would be a fair price for it, I think that the track work alone would cost that these days. If you are interested make me an offer and send me an email at: stevepower@iinet.net.au I may not be checking on here daily, but I will see an email. Thanks for looking. Yeah, after 10 years of building and playing trains on those baseboards I am really glad that it will get more use.
It is always a good feeling when a layout goes to someone who can use it. I know that feeling and that's how I met Gormo ! Cheers, Gary.
