Hi, my name is John (user id Boatman909). I am a retired IT Manager, and have lived and worked in the UK, France, the Netherlands and Canada. I finally retired in 2020 and moved to Central America. i joined the forum late last year and this my intro. I was very much inspired by Gormo’s layout blog, and started my layout last summer. I am building a HO layout based on the MMR Indiana & Aurora trackplan. I plan to post progress updates on my thread in the private layouts forum.
Looking forward to following along with your layout build. Gormo is a huge inspiration to many modellers and his layout is fantastic. The Indianna and Aurora design is a great layout with plenty of ops involved and can be run as a tail chaser or end to end. Best of both worlds ! I too model north American HO, although a little further south east. Cheers, Gary.
Thank you, Gary. i am going very slowly on my build, while i wrap my head around JMRI. I want to set up JMRI to provide me with a panel from which i can control the turnouts and display block occupancy, using a Raspberry Pi 4b as the JMRI hub, connected to various Arduinos to control the turnouts, get block occupancy info, and maybe add later signals and some automation. It’s all new to me, so i am going slow!
Woh. What happened? Apologies on us taking 4 months to reply? Not sure if we have had an issue here? anyway, welcome aboard John, albeit delayed.. I’m not a US fan myself, but, that doesn’t mean I don’t like to see others modelling. Post up some pictures (unless I’ve missed them else where) and see how your progressing. best regards Andy in Robin Hood County!
