UNIFROG EXPLAINED For current users of the Electrofrog or Insulfrog versions of our turnouts the new Unifrog format gives modellers the best of both worlds. As supplied, the turnout is wired completely “live”, except for the frog tip and wing rails, and can be used straight out of the packet without any further modification (and so behaves like an Insulfrog). However, the modeller can choose to electrify the frog and wing rails by connecting the pre-welded wires as shown on the diagram below. To change polarity the modeller can use our PL-13 or PL-15 change-over switch/microswitch, or the SmartSwitch SmartFrog PLS-130.
So Sol, Have these hit the shelves yet or was I asleep during that one...???? Sounds like a good idea but given the choice of live or insul frog why would one choose insulfrog.??? http://www.clickGormo
Gormo, so far only in a couple of H0n turnouts and a Code 83 double slip but Peco have indicated that the new bullhead rail turnouts in 00 will be Unifrog Been mentioned in some forums a couple of years ago. Now to some people Insulfrog does the job & they cannot get their heads around frog switching & lots of insulators in using Electrofrogs Reading all the guff, they sound like normally dead frogs ( as I use on the D&S in some cases) which can be electrified.
I can see the sense for Peck, they only need to make one range. For modellers then electrofrog s are the better option but ease of use then you can't beat an insulfrog. Also if your using modern bogied locks with full pickups then you won't see the advantage of electrofrog s Paul
Thanks Ron, It will be nice to have the choice of system all wrapped up in the one item. http://www.clickGormo
