Morning I'm in the process of getting my head round building an O gauge plank. Now I plan to build this plank to fit into a wrapping paper box. The board will be 730mm x 200mm which leaves me a little room so I can get my fingers in to remove the layout from its box.
I'm looking for some help with this as it's my first time building a layout in 0 gauge. Do I just run a single length of track or will I have room for something else. If anyone can come up with some ideas will be most helpful. :scratchchin:

Hi Alfie, as I replied in in your later post I will follow with interest. One of the suggestions given to me, and which worked really well, is to raise the level of the track and some of the surrounding ground level to give it a more realistic look. With it being a, literately, plank, it gives the opportunity to really go to town on the scenic side of things, thats not to say you need to cram lots of "stuff" in there, less is more as "they", whoever they are, say.
I looked at lots of photos for inspiration, Google images is really helpful for those. Once you have a picture in your mind of what you would like, give us a shout, I got a lot of helpful tips and ideas from the lads on here!

    Cheers mate, Pete.

Pete thanks for the information this is most helpful. I was thinking about a raised section.

    Hi Alfie

Have a play with Anyrail, using the Peco track templates will give you an idea if you can fit more than straight track. You'll not need to worry about the 50 piece limitation of the free version in that space.

Looking forward to this as the size would be good for a model shelf display in the man cave, and the length is just shorter than my traverser ...... mmmmm :scratchchin:

Paul Thanks for the interest in my plank build. I have reduced the size slightly and it now measures 60cms x 19cms.
I have built a frame under the shelf so to strengthen the shelf and also to fit a backboard if needed. The next job is to source some foam as I want to elevate the track.
