The fencing contractor finally returned... And he is trying new materials In addition to a new "good neighbour" fence in grey behind the fire station he also learnt how to make cyclone fencing. Following the method from Luke Towan i managed to find a packet of gal wire the right size, but in short straight lengths, probably dearer but much more convenient than straightening out a bunch of coiled wire. At my charge out rate for work and all the other house projects, justifying straightening out wire is a hard sell to myself. https://www.bunnings.com.au/whites-on-site-1-25-x-250mm-1kg-cut-galvanised-tie-wire_p1060322 http://www.bunnings.com.au/whites-on-site-1-25-x-250mm-1kg-cut-galvanised-tie-wire_p1060322 Was surprised that cold soldering gal wire would work, it does, but the joints aren't that great. Made my measurements off my own yard fence, which is the same stuff, but put in the occasional diagonal bracing. Then used the nylon wedding tulle as suggested. Found (on reflection not surprising) that nylon wedding tulle does not take to glue, or any solvent much really) that superglue did not really stick the tulle mesh to the gal frame, but an application of cyano accelerator made it work, that stuff is magic. Then air-brushed it a sort of gal colour and planted the whole thing. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony You sure do have a lot of patience. I have to reluctantly admit to buying my cyclone fencing in kit form. Cheers and happy modelling Richard
