Tonight the coal stage and stairs have been attached and everything secured to the styrene base.

I wish to add a little more detail (tomorrow) before delivering it to Gormo.

    More to follow...

    Cheers, Gary.

Well, I have added the last of the details I wanted and gave the coal stage another light weathering with powdered chalks.

For the light weathering I used black, dark grey, light grey and brown. Used very lightly here and there just to add to the timber plank colouring and black was used for coal dust on the deck.

The other detail items was simply a oil drum, which came off an old sprue of drums I had, joined the two halves together, added a top cap and a breather cap. This was then painted green. I searched the internet for an older 1947-1961 BP logo and when I found one, I resized it. printed it, sprayed it with clear matt then I sanded down the reverse side so that I could glue it to the drum without obvious edges. It seemed to work okay ! A little oil spill was added as well using MIG Grease and Oil Stain.

The other additional little detail was the rag left on the wall beside the drum. This is simply a small piece of red newsprint that I scrunched up, folded and glued onto the wall.

With this all done, I call this model complete and it will be winging it's way to it's new home over the weekend.

    Cheers, Gary.

Another detail item I thought I'd add is a scratch built coal shovel.
I wasn't sure if Gormo had one in his stash !

    During the build...

Finished coal shovel complete with paint and weathering...

    Cheers, Gary.

    Well folks,
You`ve watched Gary weave his magic through this unique coal stage build and now it is time to show the coal stage in the position it will occupy on my railway.
Gary dropped in to deliver the coal stage yesterday afternoon, and not only was the coal stage placed in position, but we got to have another lengthy discussion about all things railway and we managed to run some trains as well.......:avatar:
The coal stage is a work of art and Gary is a kind and generous person.......many thanks Gary. :tophat:
So here are quite a few pictures of the coal stage in it`s position..........please note I have to put some packing underneath it to bring it up to the correct height......approx. 3mm
This correction was allowed for during the build.

    Welldone

The only suggestion would be a brush, as I know they had some strpping lads down there on the Great Wet and Rusty, but it looks like some one brushed up any spillages. :avatar:

Thanks Ron. It was a fun little project. It is nice to build a fellow modeller (Gormo) a structure for his beautiful layout. :D

    Cheers, Gary.
