Eddy, i think its a Scottish thing involving wires, electricity trickery, plenty of cake, lots of scotch and plenty of swearing plus the use of a hammer.
Ah Eddy.....you may well ask. "What is the Dark Side "....?? The Dark Side refers to those who use DCC, Computer control and Arduino and such in their projects, plus I believe 3D printing would also come under the same heading. I use all Analogue and mechanical systems on my railway, so I am considered a bit of a Dinosaur in my model train philosophy. There are those that follow the Dark Side on this forum who have tried to encourage me to switch my allegiance, even gauge, however their efforts to date have been futile. I am happy to use the Force in my Analogue World and keep the ancient traditions of model railways alive, although our numbers are dwindling. May the Force be with you........ Gormo
I am definitely on the DARK SIDE and proud to be. I love new technology and 3d printing/DCC control is a complete game changer. I class myself as a scratch builder, most of my layout starts as an idea, I design it on the computer, I then turn a piece of plastic into object. But if everyone was the same, we would all have the same style layouts which is definitely not a great thing. Eddy PS what ever happened to the dinosaurs???? Mostly everything in the pics below designed printed and painted by a Dark Jedi
Wow !!!! Dinosaurs.......Oh I don`t know..????....there maybe some still around..... As our Scottish friends say...." May the Forth be with you ".....lovely work Eddy.....keep doing what you`re doing there in the Dark Side Gormo
Ah the dark side, where various enchanments, mutterings and movement of volts can make things happen as if by magic ........ Not something for the weak, when you're learning to battle with the Hard Dween O's, and swapping Donuts for Raspberry Pi's, life is challenging on the darkside, but hang on in there grasshopper you will survive. Gormo, you're on the top of a slippery slope, I've seen you start and use LED's, it all starts with one small step Paul
Ah yes Paul, I have used LED`s extensively, and relays, Diodes,Resistors and designed and drawn buildings on the PC........so I move in and out of the Dark Side, or looking at the slippery slope, I slide a little way down and then make it back up to the top....... Gormo
Love the Arduino its made it a cheap entry into model railway modelling for me DCC++EX base station and Arduinos for block and spot detection and signals, turnouts.
