Just had a Lidl promo flyer delivered and this soldering station was in it I know there was an earlier thread about similar, but at £8 odd got to be worth the sacrifice. You see Lidl is in the next town.. oh and it's market day so ... Attached files
Cheers Toto I was looking at similar ones that you got but with postage they were nearly treble Ian vt
For around 8 quid and temperature controllable, it's definitely worth a punt! I already have a Chinese cloned one that cost more than that, but if these irons appear in the UK Lidl's anytime soon, I'll be grabbing one as a 'backup' in case the other one dies! Keith.
So been to Lidl and got these for €31.. £29 .. a. Variable temp soldering station b. 12v rechargeable multi tool and 2 x accessories Attached files
My 40 year old Weller Iron 'gave up the ghost' last week, much to my dismay. But this Soldering station appeared at our local Lidl here in Central Portugal, so I just had to make a purchase. A bit disappointed with it though, the cable to the iron itself is not as flexible as I would like and 'parking' it in its cage is clumsy. There are two 'screw-in bits', one quite fine but the bigger one is like a spade and not really suitable for work on wiring etc. on a model railway. I shall have to fettle it to make it OK for my work. No sign of spare bits being available though. I will have to use it though as I am deep in to wiring an extensive layout. In general though, I am satisfied with ALL of the other PARKSIDE tools that I have bought over the past 8 years...
If you happen to know a local Electrician, ask him for a short offcut of 25sq/mm meter tails, and strip out the strands. You can then make your own replacement bits from each of these strands, bent to suit what you need for the job in hand, end flattened off with a file if needed. A good few years back when I was working on litho printing machines, I made a couple of what might be described as 'special purpose' bits for a "Weller" 40 watt soldering gun from strands of this. It's around the same cross sectional area as the genuine bits, and as long as you keep the copper strand about the same length as an original bit, so that it's resistance is about the same, you'll find it does the job no problem. Keith.
