I like this concept Steve. Your tree modelling blows me away every time.
First scenic board was PVA’d and sanded yesterday and the base brown coat added today, I’ve used poster paint this time as my usual spray paint doesn’t seem to be available any more.
just a rough sketch of what I’m aiming for with the centre section cut out to allow you to get trackside for photography
Building up a base layer of scenics
The top area with the first pass of grass will be the tree lined area
Second day, top area has had a covering of autumnal 4mm grass and 6mm straw coloured grass. The lower area had had the first pass of static grass. I’ve popped a few trees in place but will need many more. The ply fascia will be covered by Kirtley models weathered concrete papers.
Steve this is looking good. The different shades of grass bring it to life.
Thanks, it always looks rubbish at the beginning but it improves with every layer, still a way to go yet but I’ll post a blow by blow account so everyone can see how it’s done
Another pass this morning using two green shades and one straw, 4.5mm and 6mm strands
This is coming together nicely Steve.
Small additional details, Polak and Modelscene bushes added today. A few more spruce trees from GModels also arrived, once the MBR trees arrive I will use the spruce trees a little more sparingly all over the layout.
Track base sprayed with Howes Sleeper Grime.
Stunning scenery work Steve.
Another new tree and some extra coarser foliage on the BIG tree
Steve what more can I say, I'm in awe of your scenic modelling.
Another tree completed today, the Jarvis 10mm grass arrived so this was mixed with Noch hay 6mm and mininatur 4.5mm autumn green
Repositioning a few trees last night. Another forest in a box kit ordered this time I’ll use these as individual trees to fill in along the back to blend in to the backscene. Until the MBR trees arrive none of the current trees are permanently fixed.
A delivery today from MBR of their superb trees! Also a full forest in a box set flocked up and added along the rear plus the backscene has been glued in place. Even got my self a hot glue gun !
A little splash of colour. There will be plenty of scrub type bramble blackberry bushes to hide the join from scenic board to backscene but my preferred supplier ( Polak ) are currently out of stock. I do have some coming from MBR along with another 20 trees but I’m guessing that order will be a month or two away yet.
Planting some ferns, nettles and thistles today plus some dead fall under the trees. It’s nice to get some out door pictures in natural sunlight
If you go down to the woods today
Looks great. The different layers really build the scene.
