I thought this may be of interest -

Four years ago I built this little 5' X 3' layout, after I built a little radio controlled lorry (to see if I could do it) and then needed a railway for it to work on. The result was The End of The Line, which involved the transfer of coal from a little narrow gauge feeder (0-14) to either the standard gauge or into a pair of lorries (I also converted an Ixo Ford Thames to RC).
